What better time to visit New Orleans… Mardi Gras!
Join LA Rail for a fabulous trip to New Orleans just in time for Carnival. Often known as Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday in English), the day marks the last day of festivals before the beginning of the fasting and atonement period of Lent. The days leading up to Mardi Gras are filled with parades, pageants, music and celebration. Civic groups called “Krewes” organize dozens of lavishly decorated parades where revelers in their hundreds of thousands hope to catch bead necklaces, Dubloons, and trinkets for good luck. Some Krewes elect a King for the parade, while others invite famous celebrities to do the honors.
While some may have seen the bawdy drunken parties on Bourbon Street, there are many family-oriented parades and festivals in other areas of the city. In fact, most of the parade floats are too big to fit down the narrow confines of Bourbon Street.
Your vintage cars for this trip include 1959 business car Tioga Pass with its wood-paneled interior, luxurious dining room and an open platform for you to take in the scenery, as well as 1950 sleeping car Pacific Sands.
LA Rail will be your transportation and lodging right in the heart of the festivities in New Orleans. Some of the parades even end right outside the front doors of New Orleans Union Station. Our luxury private railroad cars will be parked right in the station, allowing you to save on the cost of a hotel room.
